Pedalostitis

Pedalostitis is a condition simailar to navicular diease, except that it is the coffin bone which is affected. Some vets believe that it is arguable that it is a disease in its own right, However, the condition can follow compression, concussion or the stretch trauma associated with laminitis. It results in oesteoporosis (demineralistation) of the bone and new bone formation which causes painful pressure and interferes with the movemnt of the bones and the circulation of blood in the foot,

The condition is progressive and incurable, although phenyl-butazone and the fitting of a barred shoe can provide some relief.
